Rachel joined our Auckland OPRA office as a consultant in 2016 after making a move into IO Psychology from Engineering. Previously a Transportation and Road Safety Engineer, Rachel worked on technical projects to make our roads safer. Her most recent Engineering work saw her spent a lot of time in Fiji identifying road safety improvements and running facilitation and training workshops with the police and local authorities about a holistic approach to road safety improvements. It was during this work that she realised she enjoyed the psychology of people and had a passion for facilitation and training / developing people.
Rachel has since completed further study to obtain a graduate diploma in psychology and is currently working towards her Masters in IO Psychology at Massey University. Her background gives her a unique approach to her work as she personally understands what is required (both technically and emotionally) to be a professional employee in both public and private organisations. Rachel’s interests include managing stress and wellbeing at work, the development of people using positive psychology and helping others with career development based on their strengths, values and motivations.
Since beginning at OPRA, Rachel has been involved in a wide range of projects such as psychometric assessment and feedback; 360 development survey design, coordination and delivery; client service management and development of e-learning training modules. When Rachel is not working or studying she enjoys going to dance and yoga classes, hosting a book club, and drinking a healthy amount of red wine.
